Aurelio's Story

I am a self-taught and emerging visual artist. I am also an artisan or folk artist.
Even though I have been a Seattlelite since the summer of '94, I consider
myself a man of the world.

I started doodling on any piece of paper I could find from the time I was
a young boy. But not until October of '03
did I have the courage to start expressing my artistic desire.

And being one who doesn't like
to be within the margins of what seems right, my expression of art has
exploded into different media.
I am an "outsider-raw" artist that doesn't believe in following current affairs,
and as such, I immerse
myself in reality and what surrounds me.
My work is influenced by the light and colors of the Caribbean and my
home island of Puerto Rico.
My world travels, my love for music, different cultures and their ideologies
influence the way I see the world.
I find myself more and more using different media and methods to
portray my art.
From acrylics to charcoal, from found objects to photography, from a
spilled can of house-paint oils or by
drawing the wrong line, its how I learn the process of making my art.
My work has been exhibited from government
art-sponsoring agencies in Puerto Rico to the Human Rights
Campaing in Seattle.
 It's also in private collections in Sydney, Australia;
Antwerpen & Gent, Belgium; San Juan,
Puerto Rico; Vancouver, BC, Canada; and throughout the U.S.
My art is contemporary and Impressionistic in style.
